On August 22, 30-year old Sam Waisbren was on his way to work--but when he began to exit the elevator, the car plummeted to the basement, crushing him to death against the shaft wall. Residents of the building had complained of ongoing elevator issues. As investigations continue, Waisbren's family has followed a wrongful death lawsuit against both the lift manufacturer and the building.
Is your building's elevator in safe working order? Are there other hazards in your building that could compromise safety? Building owners and managers have a responsibility to keep properties in a safe state of repair, and can be held liable if a person is injured on the premises.
